Pursuant to Iowa Code 21.8, this meeting was conducted by electronic means due to the health and safety concerns stemming from the COVID-19 virus, which rendered an in-person meeting impossible or impractical.

Call to Order:
Call to Order by Wiles at 2:00 p.m.
Motion by Moseley to approve the open session minutes of May 17, 2021 as presented.
Seconded by Birk.

Wiles gave permission for SchraderBachar to sign on their behalf.
Assistant Attorney General: Barrett had nothing to report.
Board Administrator: SchraderBachar asked members to have their per diems signed and returned to her. SchraderBachar provided a brief summary of the fiscal year 2021 year-End report with members. SchraderBachar informed members they’re not required to take the WorkSmart classes. However, SchraderBachar explained that members do have to sign up for Okta, which allows members to access their state email and the Board’s Google Drive.
Licensing Specialist: SchraderBachar reported from May 1, 2021 through August 31, 2021 there were no newly registered interior designers and one reinstatement.
Board Member Reports
Wiles mentioned she was pleased with the variety of options (online, Zoom, in-person) registrants are given to complete their continuing education requirements and that the courses are designated as health, safety, welfare.
The Board reviewed documents submitted by Alex Nickels. The Board reached consensus that the course documents submitted were HSW.

The board did not go into closed session as there was not any disciplinary cases.
Upcoming Meetings & Last-Minute Comments
The next meeting will be November 15, 2021 in person, with Zoom availability.
Osiago inquired about SF 424, which allows licensure by finishing an approved apprenticeship programs and SF445, which allows registered interior designers to sign and stamp drawings. SchraderBachar reported SF445 was eligible for debate during the 2022 legislative session. Barrett reported that apprenticeship programs would need to petition the board for rulemaking in order to provide the program in Iowa.
